Manchester United did not get a deal for Jadon Sancho. They paid $90 million for him in 2021 in the hope that he could repeat at Old Trafford the excellent performances he had shown with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. But this did not happen, his level was disappointing, he gradually lost his place in the team and was finally left out of the squad in September 2023 due to a quarrel with coach Erik Ten Hag.

Considering the player's high salary (about $13 million per year) and the problematic relationship with the Dutch manager, the club's chiefs were determined to get rid of him in the January transfer window. Reports indicated that several major European clubs, such as Juventus and Barcelona, and others in Saudi Arabia were interested in him, but in the end his destination will be elsewhere.

Borussia Dortmund did everything they could to get Sancho back, and they succeeded. The journalist Fabrizio Romano assured on Wednesday that the parties reached an agreement for the loan of the winger until the end of the season 2023/24. The German side will take over part of the salary, in addition to paying a loan fee of almost $5 million. But the deal does not include a buyout clause, so at the end of the season Jadon will have to return to England.

Sancho played for Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 137 games. There he showed excellent performances, scoring 50 goals and providing 57 assists. In addition, he won two titles: the German Super Cup in 2019 and the German Cup in 2021.

The Red Devils need forwards

Jadon Sancho is not the only forward who could leave Manchester United. Facundo Pellistri has offers from several clubs, including Villarreal, and could be traded. But Anthony Martial will finally stay and will be considered by Erik Ten Hag for the second half of the season. However, the English side will surely look for a forward.
