L' Équipe reports that if France were eliminated by Belgium today in the EURO round of 16, Didier Deschamps' future as head coach would come into question. This would open the chance for Zidane to become the next coach of the French national team.
Zidane coached Real Madrid for his first spell in the winter of 2016 until the spring of 2018. The French coached a total of 149 matches in his first spell with the first team of Real Madrid. He averaged 2.30 points per game with Real Madrid. He led the team to 105 wins, 28 draws, and 16 losses. The team scored 398 goals and conceded 163 goals. He won three Champions League trophies in a row during this time. Zidane also won two FIFA Club World Cups, a La Liga title, two UEFA Super Cups, and one Spanish Super Cup.

Didier Deschamps has been in charge of the French national team since the summer of 2012.
