Manchester United and Tottenham were the protagonists of one of the most interesting matches of the weekend. Both teams needed a win this Sunday at Old Trafford to fulfill their objectives: the hosts were aiming to enter the qualification zone for international tournaments, while the visitors wanted to get closer to the top of the standings and take advantage of the fact that Liverpool will play their match against Bournemouth next week.

However, neither were satisfied. The Red Devils had a great chance, as twice they were up on the scoreboard, but could not hold the advantage. Three minutes into the first half, Marcus Rashford assisted with a backheel pass to Rasmus Hojlund inside the box and the Danish striker made a genius move: he dribbled past an opposing defender and shot powerfully with his left foot, making it impossible for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to react.

The joy was short-lived for them, as after 19 minutes Richarlison received a floated cross from Pedro Porro and netted the equaliser with a header, taking advantage of Andre Onana's passivity and the lack of concentration of the Manchester United defenders. But before the end of the first half again the hosts scored, this time through Rashford, who received a pass from Hojlund and shot smoothly with his right foot.

Tottenham were not discouraged by this and immediately after the break netted the leveller. Timo Werner, who made his debut for the team on Sunday after being loaned from RB Leipzig, assisted Rodrigo Bentancur. The Uruguayan midfielder entered the box and beat Onana with a strong shot.

During the second half both teams protected themselves more and did not create too many chances to score. But in the last minute of stoppage time, Alejandro Garnacho sent a floated cross that Scott McTominay received in the box. The Scottish midfielder had time to make the best possible decision, but he rushed and tried to score with an inaccurate header. The TV cameras caught the reaction of Erik Ten Hag, who grabbed his head in disbelief at the opportunity his team wasted.
