Undoubtedly one of the most interesting matches this week in England is this Tuesday's match between Manchester United and Aston Villa at Old Trafford. The hosts have three games without a win in the Premier League (four considering all competitions) and the criticism of the players and the coach for the poor performances of the team is increasingly harsh. That's why they need a win to get closer to the qualification places for international tournaments.
But the Villans are in a completely different moment. Not even the most optimistic of Aston Villa fans imagined that they would have such a positive start to the season: with 12 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats, they started the 19th round of the tournament in second place in the standings, just one point behind leaders Arsenal. That means that if they win this Tuesday, they will be at least for a few hours at the top of the tournament.
And so far they are doing just that. They had a perfect start to the match at Old Trafford: after 25 minutes of the first half they were already leading 2-0. The opener came after 21 minutes, when John McGinn sent a free kick from the right that nobody managed to deflect, but goalkeeper Andre Onana, believing that someone would do it, did not react in time and could not save it. And moments later, through a corner kick, Leander Dendoncker received an assist from Clement Lenglet and netted the second goal.
In the following minutes The Red Devils controlled the ball and created some chances to score, but they lacked precision in some of them, and in others the goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez reacted on time and saved them.
After the Aston Villa opener, many Manchester United fans wrote messages on social media expressing their dissatisfaction with goalkeeper Andre Onana's performances. "What is Onana doing man, that's way too easy. Manchester United are finished," wrote one. And another added: “I'm done with Onana. I'm being serious now”. A third wrote: “Onana is the worst goalkeeper in the history of soccer”.
