Manchester United will play this Saturday against Crystal Palace for the seventh Premier League matchday. For the first time in a long time they have had a week of peace, as they got victories against Burnley in the English league and against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. In addition, they have had no new off-field conflicts to disturb the peace of the squad.
As usual before each match, manager Erik Ten Hag held a press conference in which he answered questions from journalists about the team's performance and analysis of their upcoming opponents. But most of the queries were about the situation of Jadon Sancho and Antony.
The Brazilian winger was given a leave of absence while police in Brazil and England investigate allegations of domestic violence made against him by several women, including his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin. This week the player returned to Manchester and the club announced: "As Antony's employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed".
Of him, Ten Hag said: “On Saturday, he will be back in training, so tomorrow. I don't think it's a distraction. We will focus on the games. He will do as well”. However, he clarified that he will not be part of the squad for the game against Crystal Palace.
The other forward who is excluded from the squad is Jadon Sancho. The English player had a quarrel with Ten Hag after the match against Arsenal, in which the coach decided not to call him up arguing that he had not performed well in training. Sancho responded with an aggressive post on social media and this forced the club's chiefs to punish him. When asked at a press conference about him, Ten Hag only replied: "Many of you ask me so often this question and I have said everything". Thus he made it clear that, at least for now, Sancho will not be back.
