Jose Mourinho is one of the most respected coaches in the world. His more than 20 years of experience and the many successes he has achieved have earned him the respect of fans around the globe. At the same time, his witty statements at press conferences and his unique relationship with the players he manages make him a likeable and intriguing character.

No one can dispute his importance as a coach: throughout his career he has built teams that will remain in the memory despite the passing of time. Some examples are that Porto team that won the Champions League in 2004, the Chelsea team that became one of the strongest in the Premier League during his time in London and the Inter that rose to the top of Europe after beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in 2010.

At another club where he left an indelible mark was Manchester United. There he was hired in 2016 to try to improve a team that had not been working for years, when Sir Alex Ferguson decided to retire. In that 2016/17 season, he managed to win the UEFA Europa League with the Red Devils. Now, being the coach of AS Roma, Mourinho targeted a young player he met during his time at the English club.

He is Mason Greenwood, the talented winger who has been suspended by Manchester United since January 2022 due to legal problems. Although the Crown Persecution Service has dropped all charges, the club still maintains the sanction against the player while conducting an investigation. In this context, according to The Sun,  'Mou' will take him to Rome on loan so that he can play again and try to recover his level on the pitch.

He will not be alone

Greenwood will not be the only English player in the AS Roma squad. He will be reunited with a former Manchester United teammate: defender Chris Smalling, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Italian team.
