After the closing of the transfer window in Europe, Manchester United confirmed the list of 25 professional players that will be part of the squad during the 2023/24 season, in which they will face the Premier League (where they have already played 4 games, with two wins and two defeats), Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
There are several things that caught the attention of the fans regarding the players who are on the list, and also those who are not. The first detail is that Antony and Jadon Sancho are included.
The Brazilian winger was given a leave of absence last weekend, as he is being investigated by the police in England and Brazil for alleged domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, and two other women. And Sancho is currently not taken into account by coach Erik Ten Hag, after a quarrel they had because of the player's absence in the match against Arsenal. There is also Donny Van De Beek, who had a chance to leave this summer, but finally stayed.
However, the main surprises were the absentees. Not on the list is Rasmus Hojlund, the Danish striker who arrived this summer in Manchester from Atalanta for almost $90 million and who made his debut in the last game against Arsenal. The reason for his absence is that he is under 21 and therefore does not need to be included in the list. The same goes for Argentinean Alejandro Garnacho, who is only 19 years old.
With the exception of Rasmus Hojlund, the rest of the players who joined the squad this summer are on the list: goalkeepers André Onana and Altay Bayindir, defenders Johnny Evans and Sergio Reguilon and midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount. The list cannot be changed until the winter transfer window closes in January.
