José Mourinho is one of the most successful coaches in the world. He has managed the best teams in Europe and with most of them he has won important titles. His first great success was at Porto, with whom he won the Champions League in 2004. This aroused the interest of Chelsea, who hired him to win the Premier League and the Portuguese did not disappoint them.
He then had a bad spell at Real Madrid, where he was unable to overcome Pep Guardiola's Barcelona. In 2010 he won the Champions League again, this time with Inter, and finally arrived in 2016 at Manchester United. There he had the difficult task of recovering the team after three bad seasons following the departure of Alex Ferguson and achieved the goal of winning the UEFA Europa League.
However, Mourinho's personality and decisions have made him the protagonist of more than one conflict. This is what happened with Angel Gomes. The midfielder was one of the great promises of the Red Devils and had had the chance to debut at just 16 years old in 2017. But he did not have too much participation at the club and ended up leaving after four seasons in which he only played 10 games.
Now he gave an interview to The Athletic in which he revealed a negative memory he had with Mourinho. According to him, the coach exposed him in front of his teammates, which made Gomes uncomfortable and annoyed. However, he now recognizes that he was very young and wishes he had learned more from the Portuguese coach.
Gómes left Manchester United in 2020 and went to Boavista of Portugal. There he had a great performance: he played 32 games, scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists. This aroused the interest of Lille of France, who signed him in 2021. Since then he has played 69 games and has become one of the most important players of the team.
