This week Manchester United announced their final decision on Mason Greenwood. The English side had suspended the player in January 2022, after he was reported for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault. Although the charges were dropped months ago, the club's chiefs had not resolved what to do with him. Rumors of his possible return to the squad were not well received by some fans and that was key to the Red Devils deciding to exclude him from the team for good.

Now the English side are working to find a new club for the player, since if he does not leave during this transfer window, they will be forced to pay him a fortune to terminate his contract, which expires in 2025.

Greenwood was targeted by several clubs. According to The Sun, Steven Gerrard is interested in signing him for Al-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia, who have already signed another Premier League star this summer: Jordan Henderson. The Pro League side could offer him a salary of more than $12 million a year. Another possibility is Galatasaray of Turkey, who already have Hakim Ziyech and Wilfired Zaha.

And according to talkSPORT, Italy could be another destination for the forward. AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho was the one who gave Greenwood his Manchester United debut in 2018 and is now interested in adding him to his squad. He even had talks with him in July and advised him to do his best to play again as soon as possible. In addition, on the Italian side is a former teammate of the forward at The Red Devils, Chris Smalling.

There has been a lot of calls

According to The Sun, other Italian teams have started talks with Manchester United to try to negotiate the arrival of Mason Greenwood. Juventus, AC Milan and Inter are the interested clubs, which will compete with AS Roma, Al-Ettifaq and Galatasaray to keep the talented forward.
