After winning the LaLiga title in the 2022/23 season, Xavi Hernández has earned trust as the future coach of Barcelona. However, the former player still has unfinished business in European competitions and believes that in order to compete for all titles, he will need a team that is as complete and balanced as possible.
According to reports from the AS newspaper, the Catalan coach aims to have two players for each position in his squad, allowing him to make rotations and have options in all competitions when crucial moments arise.
Following Busquets' departure, one of the top priorities in this transfer period is to reinforce the defensive midfield position. Several names have emerged, such as Zubimendi, Rúben Neves, Joshua Kimmich, and even academy player Nico González, who is returning from his loan spell at Valencia. However, these are currently just rumors.
After several days of waiting, LaLiga has finally approved Barcelona's viability plan. The club can now register the contracts of Gavi and Araújo, as well as carry out the renewals of Iñaki Peña, Sergi Roberto, and Marcos Alonso.
The club's viability plan includes a 15 percent reduction in ordinary expenses over a two-year period, resulting in a budget savings of 150 million EUR and a decrease of 120 million EUR in the wage bill, including the sale of players who are not part of Xavi's plans.
