Lionel Messi's return to Barcelona seemed like a distant possibility due to the club's financial problems and the financial fair play limit imposed by LaLiga. Although Barelona fans were hopeful to see Messi back at the club, and his good relationship with coach Xavi Hernández fueled the dream, Barcelona couldn't formalize a concrete offer.
After the confirmation of Messi's arrival at Inter Miami, Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, didn't hesitate to belittle the captain of the Argentine National Team. During the presentation of the Legends museum in Madrid, Tebas commented, “What can we do? Messi is not indispensable. Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentine star left LaLiga, and not only did we survive, but we have gradually grown”.
However, the Spanish executive showed enthusiasm for the possible arrival of French forward Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid. Tebas expressed, “I hope Mbappé comes, I've been saying it for a while. It's a plan that Real Madrid should make if they reach an agreement. There's still a long summer ahead, and considering it's the last year of his contract and the situation PSG faces with the salary limit, which is very tight, he is one of the players who should leave”.
Despite his praises for Mbappé, Tebas also pointed out that the feasibility of his signing will depend on the financial situation of Real Madrid and their ability to retain key players. Tebas concluded, “When we talk about two years ahead, it's difficult to give an opinion, but Real Madrid has the financial strength for everything”.
The president of LaLiga made it clear that even without Messi in the Spanish championship, the competition continues and is prepared to grow. At the same time, he expressed his enthusiasm for Mbappé's possible arrival at Real Madrid, although he acknowledged the financial complexities that could influence the negotiation.
