The possibilities of Lionel Messi's return to Barcelona have increased following LaLiga's imminent acceptance of the viability plan proposed by the Blaugrana team. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona's economic proposal has been approved by the organization, and the club would already know which signings it can make.
However, Sport assures that it is not yet official, and the Catalan entity would wait for confirmation to be received in the coming days in order to make an official offer to Messi. Joan Laporta, the club's president, has met with Jorge Messi, the player's agent and father.
Messi's statements after the meeting surprised everyone: "Leo wants to return to Barcelona, and I would also like him to return. We trust that Leo can come back." According to Fabrizio Romano, these expressions surprised clubs in Saudi Arabia and Miami, as both considered having a deal closed for the Argentine.
However, Gastón Edul clarified that Barcelona has not yet proposed an offer to Messi, and they are waiting to receive the official ruling from LaLiga regarding the viability plan. Despite offers from Saudi Arabia and Inter Miami, it is clear that the Argentine star desires to return to Camp Nou.
Goal Spain reported that Messi has asked Al-Hilal to postpone negotiations for his signing until 2024. Furthermore, it is worth noting Fabrizio Romano's statements, “In the next 48 hours, I think everything will be clearer. Messi doesn't want to prolong the matter, and I believe that things will be clarified on Wednesday or Thursday”.
