LaLiga season comes to an end for Barcelona, a campaign filled with ups and downs but has allowed the club to add trophies to their collection. Under the guidance of Xavi Hernández, the Blaugrana bid farewell with the conquest of La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, but leaving a pending debt in European competitions.
Barcelona has extracted numerous lessons from this closing season, from the importance of young players to the tactical variations implemented by Xavi, which transformed the team into an "ultra-defensive" unit capable of prevailing even in moments of inefficiency in the opponent's area.
Barcelona will conclude the season this Sunday with a visit to Real Club Celta de Vigo at Balaídos. Last week, they secured a resounding victory against Mallorca, with a brace from Ansu Fati and a goal from Gavi. It was a grand farewell as they also bid adieu to the Spotify Camp Nou and two team stalwarts, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
It is important to note that before the clash against Mallorca, Barcelona suffered two consecutive defeats after being crowned LaLiga champions, falling to Real Sociedad at home and Valladolid in Pucela, showing a surprising lack of defensive solidity.
The match against Celta will be a mere formality for Barcelona, as they have nothing at stake in terms of qualification. However, Marc-André ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski aspire to finish the season as the goalkeeper with the fewest goals conceded and the top scorer, respectively, and they aim to improve their records in the duel at Balaídos.
