According to leaked information from 'Mundo Deportivo', the contracts of footballers Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio, which are valid until June 30th, contained a secret clause that prohibited them from signing with Barcelona while being Real Madrid players.

This means that Florentino Pérez, the president of the Merengue club, ensured that both players would not end up joining Barcelona in this season. It is known that Asensio has a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain and his contract is expected to be signed this week, as the player has already undergone the corresponding medical examinations.

On the other hand, Madrid is still waiting to renew Ceballos, although the player has other offers promising him a greater role in the 2023/24 season. He is aware that if he stays at Real Madrid, he will continue to be a substitute under the direction of Carlo Ancelotti.

According to the report from 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona dismissed the option of signing Asensio months ago, once they became aware of the clause that prevented any negotiations with the winger.

Xavi wanted him

Although Marco had a standout season with 12 goals and 8 assists in 51 matches, mostly as a substitute, Xavi Hernández considered the Mallorcan player as a good reinforcement to play as an interior on both sides. However, it was impossible to approach Marco Asensio.
