Spanish forward Marco Asensio is getting closer to leaving Real Madrid and seeking new horizons in his football career. With the prospect of Real Madrid looking to strengthen for the upcoming season, Asensio has accepted the reality and is preparing for a change of scenery.
At 27 years old, Asensio joined Real Madrid in 2016 and has been a key piece in the team's success for seven years. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the month, his departure seems inevitable despite attempts from both parties to reach an agreement.
According to reports from Marca, the Spanish player has turned down a formal offer from Aston Villa to sign a long-term contract with PSG. Asensio has the ambition to continue competing in the Champions League next season, and everything indicates that he will become Kylian Mbappé's teammate in the attack of the current Ligue 1 champions.
Paris Saint-Germain, aware that a player of Asensio's quality will be available on the market, plans to sign him starting from July 1st. It has been suggested that the Parisian club will offer the forward a net salary of 10 million euros, and Asensio views the possibility of joining the team from the French capital, which is also seeking to rebuild its squad, in a positive light.
As Asensio's contract with Real Madrid is nearing its end, he will arrive as a free agent, so PSG will not have to pay anything to Real Madrid for the Spanish player. They will only have to cover his salary, which will amount to 10 million EUR per year.
