For more than 15 years, the soccer world witnessed the battle between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to be the best player on the planet. Now, the 36-year-old Argentine will leave European soccer to sign for Inter Miami, while the Portuguese has been playing for Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia since December.
While both of them are in the final years of their careers, fans are anxious to find new stars. Kylian Mbappé, 2018 World Cup winner and PSG leader, Erling Haaland, top goalscorer in his first year in Premier League and winner of the treble, and talented Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. seem to be the candidates to represent the next generation, but they are not alone.
In the Turkish league has emerged a player who could join that select group. His name is Arda Güler, a midfielder that plays for Fenerbahce and who, at just 18 years of age, is already dazzling fans with his talent. Since his debut in 2021, he has played 51 games and scored 9 goals.
The player's performance, as well as his projection, have already caught the attention of the most important teams in Europe. Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely following his evolution and would be willing to start a battle to get the Turkish player.
Arda Güler has an exit clause of $17 million, an amount that both Los Merengues and Los Blaugranas would be able to pay. The advantage Real Madrid has is that they could offer a high salary to the player, while Barcelona might be limited due to financial problems.
