With one matchday remaining in LaLiga, Real Madrid has officially announced two departures. First, the departure of Marco Asensio, and a few hours later, they also announced the departure of Mariano Díaz, whose contract was set to expire on June 30th.
Mariano Díaz has become one of the most disappointing signings in recent years for Real Madrid. After a successful season at Olympique Lyon, he returned to the Santiago Bernabéu with hopes of earning a place in the starting eleven. However, his second spell has been characterized more by limited minutes and minimal contribution to the team rather than notable achievements.
Throughout this season, the Dominican forward has only played a total of 11 matches in all competitions, failing to score goals or provide assists. Given his limited participation, his departure from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window was highly probable.
With the season coming to an end, Mariano Díaz was one of the players whose contract was expiring at Real Madrid. Given his lack of involvement with the team, it was highly likely that the forward would end his second spell at the Santiago Bernabéu. After making Marco Asensio's departure official, the club has now done the same with the striker.
With Mariano leaving the club, Real Madrid will now have to find a new player to fill his position, and it appears that they are already working on it. On the other hand, Mariano will have to search for a new club that will provide him with playing time and allow him to elevate his level and find his best form.
