Barcelona continues its search for reinforcements to elevate the level of its squad, especially ahead of the upcoming edition of the Champions League. In this regard, the club is in the task of signing a defensive midfielder who can be the ideal substitute for Sergio Busquets, as well as a quality center-forward who can support Robert Lewandowski, who has played every minute this season.
After obtaining approval from LaLiga for their viability plan, Barcelona is waiting to offload players who are not in Xavi's plans. Although the situation in the attacking line seemed clear in terms of options, the name of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a player from Chelsea, has been discarded by the sporting management, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
The reason behind this dismissal is that Aubameyang doesn't fit into the club's salary plan. Instead, Vitor Roque has been chosen to occupy the position of backup center-forward. When the time comes for Lewandowski to experience an inevitable decline in performance due to his age, it is expected that the Brazilian can become the goal scorer of the blaugrana project.
Aubameyang had been on Barcelona's agenda after failing to adapt at Chelsea. In fact, the forward tried to return to Barcelona during the last winter transfer window, but the restrictions imposed by LaLiga prevented the operation. Aubameyang is a player beloved by both the fans and the dressing room at Barcelona, but it seems that his return will not materialize after all.
Despite this, Aubameyang continues to receive proposals from interested clubs. According to Sky Sports, he is being targeted by four Arab clubs, including Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, where Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema respectively play. Additionally, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce are also said to be interested in his services.
