Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola, is preparing to return to work with the ambition of achieving a historic milestone, defending a treble. After an outstanding 2022/23 season and their consistency in recent years, it is tempting to think that the Citizens can dominate in all competitions in the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Although it is a monumental challenge, it requires Guardiola's team to be in their best form at the right time and for a bit of luck to accompany them until the end.
However, before the preseason begins, Manchester City has received disheartening news. According to reports from the Daily Star, their midfield star Kevin De Bruyne will miss the start of the Premier League.
It has been confirmed that the 31-year-old Belgian suffered a grade three hamstring tear. While surgery is not required during the break, De Bruyne is expected to miss the City's first official match, the Community Shield against Arsenal at Wembley.
The injury suffered by the Belgian international in the Champions League final will not have healed in time to face Burnley, the team led by former Manchester City player Vincent Kompany. However, both the player and the club hope that De Bruyne will recover in time for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla.
