Over the last few weeks Liverpool's priorities have been divided. On the one hand, the squad and staff are focused on getting the best possible results on the field, considering that they have concrete chances of being champions in all the tournaments in which they participate. In fact, this Sunday they won the Carabao Cup title after beating Chelsea in the final. Moreover, in the Premier League they are leaders in the standings, while in the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League they are in the round of 16.

But the chiefs have another concern. They are working hard to find a suitable replacement for Jurgen Klopp, who announced a few weeks ago that he will leave after the end of the season. The German manager's nine successful years with the Reds have set the bar high, so whoever comes in his place will have to be prepared to handle enormous amounts of pressure and demands.

The main target appears to be Xabi Alonso, who shone as a player at the club between 2004 and 2009 and is currently the boss of Bayer Leverkusen, the surprising Bundesliga leaders. The problem is that Liverpool are not the only ones interested in him: Bayern Munich also want to sign him, while Bayer Leverkusen bosses will do their best to prevent him from leaving.

That is why the Reds are considering other alternatives. According to The Telegraph, one of the options is Julian Nagelsmann. He arrived at the German National Team just a few months ago to replace Hansi Flick and has ahead of him the challenge of leading his country through the Euro 2024, in which they will be hosts. For that reason it seems difficult that he could accept an offer from Liverpool.

Who is the other one?

Besides Nagelsmann, another alternative is Ruben Amorim. The former Portuguese midfielder excelled for years playing for Benfica and, after his retirement in 2016, started a successful career as a coach. He currently manages Sporting Lisbon, with whom he has won four titles since 2020.
