Manchester United beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium on Monday to qualify for the FA Cup round of 32. It was a key victory for Erik Ten Hag's team, who after the eliminations in the Carabao Cup and Champions League, and the poor performance in the Premier League, point to the FA Cup as their last chance to win a title this season.

The Red Devils are one of the English giants that achieved their goal of advancing to the next round. The others to do so were Liverpool (who beat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in the best game of the round of 64), Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea. In addition, other good Premier League teams also made it, such as Aston Villa, Newcastle and Brighton & Hove Albion.

All of them now know who their opponents will be in the Round of 32, and some have been luckier than others. The main beneficiaries are Manchester United and Liverpool. The Red Devils will face whoever wins the replay between Newport County and Eastleigh, teams from England's fourth and fifth divisions, respectively. The Reds will play either Norwich or Bristol Rovers.

Those who were not so lucky are the others. Manchester City will have a tough match against Tottenham Hotspur, while Chelsea will face Aston Villa. In addition, Newcastle will play another Premier League team, Fulham, and Brighton & Hove Albion vs Sheffield United.

Still some time to go

According to The Sun, the FA Cup round of 64 replays will be played between January 25 and 29, so the next phase will only be played the following month. Before that, English teams will have several important Premier League matches, and some like Liverpool and Chelsea will play the Carabao Cup semifinals before that as well.
