Manchester City have this Saturday a perfect opportunity in the Premier League. They started matchday 21 in third place in the league table with 40 points, 5 less than leaders Liverpool and 2 less than Aston Villa. But The Reds will not play this weekend because their match against Bournemouth was postponed until January 21, while The Villans will have a difficult game against Everton on Sunday.

Boss Guardiola revealed Haaland's return date and worried Manchester City fans
With this scenario, a win will allow The Citizens to reach 43 points and get very close to the top, at least until the others play their respective games. That could be decisive for the future of the tournament, since during the whole season the teams that were leaders of the Premier League could not hold there for long.
In the beginning of the match Pep Guardiola's team proved to be better than their opponents. They controlled the ball, pushed the Magpies close to their box and created several chances to score, until Bernardo Silva netted the opener. On 26 minutes, Kyle Walker sent in a drilled cross that the Portuguese midfielder connected with a stunning backheel goal.
Everything seemed to be working for Manchester City, but before long things changed completely. On 35 minutes Alexander Isak received the ball inside the box and shot with great precision with his right foot to score the equaliser. And moments later Anthony Gordon, from a similar position, did the same and completed a comeback that seemed impossible for Newcastle.

In addition to being 2-1 down at St. James' Park, Pep Guardiola has another reason to be worried. After 7 minutes he had to replace Ederson with Stefan Ortega, as the Brazilian goalkeeper suffered an injury earlier in the game. Although it is too early to know what happened to him, everything indicates that it could be serious and prevent him from playing for a long time.
