Fulham and Liverpool were the protagonists of a very interesting match on Wednesday. They met at Craven Cottage for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals. Previously, The Reds had won 2-1 at Anfield Road, which allowed them to travel to London with the peace of mind of knowing that two of the three possible results (a draw and a win) would allow them to advance to the next round.

And things started positively for them, as during the first half they were far superior to their opponents and controlled the ball and the pitch. In addition, after 11 minutes they scored the opener through Luis Diaz, who received the ball on the left side of the field and, inside the box, shot with his right foot. He was fortunate that a deflection off a defender complicated the task of goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who was unable to save it.
However, things became more difficult after the break. Perhaps confident that the result would remain unchanged, boss Jurgen Klopp made some changes to take care of important players such as Alexis MacAllister, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. But their replacements failed to live up to expectations and that allowed Fulham to react.
In the 31st minute, after a couple of chances in which they came close to scoring, The Cottagers finally got their deserved reward and netted the leveller: Harry Wilson made a great play on the left sector and sent a cross to the box that Issa Diop connected, beating the resistance of Caoimhin Kelleher. However, they then failed to hurt The Reds again and were eliminated.
