Last week the soccer world was shocked by Jurgen Klopp's announcement. He recorded a video that was shared on social media where he explained that he no longer believes he has the energy to plan a new year at Liverpool and that is why he decided to end his successful 9-year cycle at the English side at the end of the current season.

Liverpool beat Norwich in FA Cup and achieved what no other English team could
This news was completely unexpected, considering that he had a contract with the Reds until June 30, 2026 and that the team's results and performances this season have been excellent. In fact, they are the only English team that are still competing in all four tournaments: they are top of the Premier League standings and finalists of the Carabao Cup, while they are also in the round of 16 of the FA Cup and the Champions League.
But apparently Klopp's departure may bring other unexpected problems: some important players of the squad could leave with him. One of them is Virgil Van Dijk, who this week was asked if he will continue at Liverpool from next season and replied: "That's a big question. I don't know. The club will have a big job on their hands. To replace not only the manager but the whole staff, there are so many things that will change".
And then he added: “I'm very curious which direction that will go in but when that will be announced we will see our situation. I can't say much about it. Obviously it will be the end of Jurgen Klopp’s era. I am very glad that I am still part of it. That is why I don’t like to speak about it. I am still part of it". The Dutch defender undoubtedly wants to wait until the end of the season and find out who the new coach will be before deciding what he will do next season.

According to The Sun, the main favorite to replace Klopp is Xabi Alonso, former player of the club and current coach of Bayer Leverkusen. But there are also other alternatives, such as Brighton & Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou.
