Cristiano Ronaldo is a Manchester United legend. He played there in two stages: the first and most successful between 2003 and 2009, and then again between 2021 and 2022. In total he scored 145 goals and provided 66 assists in 346 games, and won 10 titles, including one Champions League and three Premier Leagues. He was also the last successful player at the club to wear the legendary No. 7 shirt, which had previously been worn by stars such as George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.

However, his last stint at the club was not a good one. He arrived in 2021 from Juventus with the aim of leading the team to compete against Manchester City in the Premier League, but he did not have a good relationship with coach Erik Ten Hag and eventually left after only a year and a half. But his time in England was not in vain, as he served as a guide for some young players who now stand out in the team.

One of them is Alejandro Garnacho, a Spanish-born winger with Argentine roots who has lately shown excellent performances and has become a fan favorite. Garnacho has acknowledged on more than one occasion that he deeply admires CR7 and it shows on the field: he has a style of play very similar to that of the Portuguese forward in his early days, as well as imitating his goal celebrations.

But it seems that Cristiano's favorite player is someone else. This was revealed by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who in his podcast Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE told details of a chat he had with his former teammate some time ago. Rio was analyzing the team's performance in recent weeks when he said: "Dalot needs a special mention. He is someone I doubted early on" and went on to explain how CR7 changed his mind.

What did he say?

Ferdinand explained about Dalot: "I remember speaking to Cristiano Ronaldo and said, 'Is he really that good?' and Cristiano said he will work hard, make himself better and 100 per cent improve. He saw it behind the scenes so he knew that." And apparently he was right, as the defender has improved a lot lately.
