Manchester City did not get the result they needed last weekend in the Premier League. They faced Chelsea at Etihad Stadium with the pressure of knowing that Liverpool and Arsenal had already won their respective games and had overtaken them in the standings. That's why they needed a win to get closer to them and continue depending on themselves to win the title, considering that they have a game against Brentford pending.

With the Carabao Cup final just days away, Chelsea and Liverpool's main concern
But things did not go as they expected. Chelsea showed a very good performance and, thanks to coach Mauricio Pochettino's strategy, neutralized the virtues of The Citizens and caused them problems with quick attacks every time they recovered the ball, taking advantage of the talent of the forwards. With that plan The Blues scored the opener through Raheem Sterling during the first half.
After the break Manchester City improved and near the end netted the leveller thanks to a shot by Rodri. The Spanish midfielder was key in the team's recovery and scored an important goal, as he had done in the 2022/23 Champions League final against Inter, which gave them their first European title.
Pep Guardiola is very satisfied with Rodri's performance and this was demonstrated during a press conference, in which he said: "What a signing. It's difficult to understand how we could have done what we have done in recent years without him". He added: "Rodri always has the ability in important moments to score goals so he's an unbelievable player. He's the best midfield player in the world currently by far because he is able to do everything.

Rodri arrived at Manchester City in 2019 after excelling at Villarreal and Atlético Madrid. Since then he has been a key player for Pep Guardiola, being part of the starting lineup whenever he has been available and scoring important goals despite not being his main feature. In addition, when he has been absent the team has missed him.
