Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world right now. His performances with Manchester City have been excellent since he arrived in England in the summer of 2022, scoring 52 goals in 53 games in his first season and leading the team to Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League titles. And in his second year at the club, he is keeping up his level: he is, alongside Mohamed Salah, the top scorer in the English league with 14 goals, while in the European tournament you have netted 5 times in 6 games.

His impressive statistics have not gone unnoticed. The Norwegian player has been a finalist in the main soccer awards, such as the Ballon d'Or and The Best. Therefore, at only 23 years of age, he is destined to become one of the biggest stars in the sport over the next decade.

For that reason, it is no wonder that the world's top clubs are competing for him. It has long been rumored that Real Madrid targeted him as plan B in case their negotiations with Kylian Mbappé failed. However, it seems that another European giant is the favorite to sign him during the next transfer window.

This was assured by journalist François Gallardo through a post on his official X account, where he explained: "Erling Haaland will become FC Barcelona's new player in the summer of 2024. Everything has been agreed for a long time. Barcelona will pay an amount close to €100 million" (about $110 million).

They will need to come up with the money

If Gallardo's information is true, Barcelona will need to sell some players to raise that amount of money. Robert Lewandowski is probably one of them, as he plays in the same position as Haaland. In addition, he has received offers from Saudi Arabia. Another one is Raphinha, who was targeted by Premier League clubs like Newcastle.
