Robert Lewandowski was for a decade one of the best strikers in the world. He shone with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, and was even European champion with the Bavarian side in 2020. This allowed him to compete with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon d'Or on more than one occasion, although he was never able to win that award. In his best season, France Football magazine decided to suspend the ceremony because of the COVID-19 pandemic and so he was left without his well-deserved trophy.

But that did not discourage him and he continued to excel until in the summer of 2022 Barcelona paid a fortune to sign him. They were aiming for Robert to take over the responsibility of replacing Lionel Messi, who a year earlier had left for Paris Saint-Germain. And he lived up to expectations, as in his first season he scored 33 goals in 46 games and led Los Blaugranas to the La Liga title.

However, in his second year in Spain things are not going so well. He had some physical problems that prevented him from playing for some time, while the team's performances declined. With this scenario, coach Xavi seems to have lost confidence in him and in several games decided to replace him with other players like Ferrán Torres, Vitor Roque or Marc Guiu.

That is why rumors about Lewandowski's possible departure from Barcelona have started to emerge lately. And one of his possible destinations is Major League Soccer. There are at least two clubs interested in signing him, with the aim of competing with the powerful Inter Miami of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez: Los Angeles Galaxy and Chicago Fire.

It is very difficult

Chicago Fire coach Frank Koplas was asked about the possibility of his team signing Robert Lewandowski this season, but his answer was not at all optimistic: "It's not feasible," he said. And then he added: "Every team would want Lewandowski to come. But unfortunately, he has two years left in his contract. Barcelona paid over $50 million to get him, so I don't think it's a player that's going to be coming into MLS, especially right now."
