Real Madrid have this Sunday the opportunity to regain the lead they had over Barcelona at the start of the 26th round of La Liga. The Catalan side beat Getafe 4-0 to become Los Merengues' closest competitors, with 57 points and just five points off the top of the standings. But all that could change.

With Vinicius, this is the starting lineup for Real Madrid vs Sevilla

Carlo Ancelotti's side are facing Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium knowing that a win will allow them to pull away from their rivals in the competition for the Spanish league title. They are also aware that they are facing one of the weakest teams of this season: Sevilla have had many problems, changed coach three times during the tournament and are closer to the relegation zone than to the qualification zone for international competitions.

However, the match was far from easy for Los Merengues. Things had started perfectly, as 10 minutes into the first half Lucas Vazquez scored the opener with a shot to goalkeeper Nyland's far post. But the VAR reviewed the previous play, in which there was an alleged foul by Nacho against En-Nesyri and finally referee Isidro Diaz de Mera Escuderos decided to disallow the goal, causing the anger of players, staff and fans at the stadium.

This was a hard blow for Real Madrid, who after that had neither precision nor imagination to create clear chances to score. The only one they had was a shot by Aurélien Tchouaméni that deflected off a rival defender and went just wide of the post. The visitors also tried through En-Nesyri, but the shot went wide.

The coach must not be satisfied

Surely Carlo Ancelotti expected a better performance from his team during the first half, so he may make changes after the break. Real Madrid's substitutes are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Diego Piñeiro, Fran Garcia, Jacobo Ramon, Dani Ceballos, Luka Modric, Arda Guler and Alvaro Rodriguez.
