Real Madrid is arguably the greatest football club in football history, and at the moment, they are the best-run club in the world. The squad is filled with world-class players who are constantly competing for trophies every season. They have won the Champions League six times in the last ten years. That is the level that Manchester United's co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants the English club to get to in the next few years, which seems almost impossible for many football fans. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but many consider them a sleeping giant. Ratcliffe spoke to Bloomberg about Manchester United and admitted that he looks up to Real Madrid as the blueprint for building Manchester United back to glory. Ratcliffe said, "There's room for improvement everywhere we look at Man United; we will improve everything. We want to be where Real Madrid is today, but it'll take time. It will take two or three summer windows to get to a better place."

Ratcliffe was bold when describing how popular Man United is to the world. The English owner said, "Everybody in the world knows of Manchester because of Man United. Manchester United is like Coca-Cola, isn’t it? Everybody knows it. I’m not sure I know why, But it’s a fact!"

Manchester United fans have been annoyed at the club for not making smart choices in terms of signings and coaches. Ratcliffe joins them as he says, "We’ve got more accountants than we’ve got sporting people at Man United. If you’re not careful, the Premier League will end up spending more time in court than it is thinking about what’s good for the league."

Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Old Trafford

One of the biggest complaints about Manchester United is the lack of investment in their stadium, Old Trafford. Ratcliffe gave a bold statement about Old Trafford as he said, "Real Madrid have got a better squad and have managed to [re]build the [Santiago] Bernabeu, and we've got, you probably saw the headline, the third-highest waterfall in Britain."
