Inter Miami left behind the most demanding physical training weeks of the preseason and they are finally in the most fun stage: playing games and improving their performances to get to the beginning of the season in the best possible way. This year will be very important and difficult for them, as they will have the goal of winning the Major League Soccer and CONCACAF Champions League titles.

But before all that they will have several friendly matches in which coach Gerardo Martino will be able to test different strategies and tactical systems that he will later use in the official matches. The first of those friendlies was played last Friday at the Cuscatlán Stadium against the El Salvador National Team and it was a 0-0 draw in which not much happened, except for a sad news.

At the end of the first half, Martino decided to replace the main stars of the team: Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and, obviously, Lionel Messi. In Leo's place, another Argentine forward, Facundo Farias, was brought in. But unfortunately he could not stay on the field for long, since in one of his first participations in the match, he received a strong kick from a rival player and had to leave the field on a stretcher.

This caused the concern of his teammates and staff, and now Inter Miami confirmed the worst news. Through a statement shared on social media, the club informed: "Farias suffered an injury to the left anterior cruciate ligament. The Argentine will undergo surgery at Baptist Health in the coming weeks and is expected to be out for the remainder of the season".

What will they do?

Although he was not usually part of the starting lineup, Facundo Farias was considered an important player by coach Gerardo Martino. Now that it has been confirmed that he will be out of the field for at least six months, perhaps The Herons will look for another forward with similar characteristics, considering that this year will be very demanding and they will need all the help they can get.
