While Manchester United had some positive results in recent weeks that allowed them to move closer to the top of the Premier League standings, the team's performance during the 2023/24 season has been disappointing. They no longer have a chance of winning the English league, while they were eliminated early in the Carabao Cup and the Champions League.

That is why many fans are dissatisfied with coach Erik Ten Hag and have been very critical of his decisions throughout the season. Not only the strategic decisions have been controversial, but also the choice of players during the transfer windows. The Dutch manager requested the signing of players who did not live up to expectations, such as Antony, Mason Mount and André Onana, while discarding others who had shown interesting qualities.

One of them is Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan winger had very few chances during the previous semester, as Ten Hag gave priority to Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony, and that is why this year he was loaned to Granada. Some fans questioned this decision, considering that Pellistri was talented enough to become an important part of the team.

And apparently they were right. In Spain he is showing good performances, despite playing for one of the weakest teams in La Liga. This weekend Facundo shone in Montjuic against Barcelona: there Los Nazaríes got a valuable 3-3 draw and he was instrumental in that, with an assist to Ricard Sanchez and a goal. In fact, he became the youngest player to score a goal and assist in a La Liga away game vs Barcelona since Samuel Eto'o in 2000.

What will happen to him?

Facundo Pellistri's loan with Granada will end this summer and, in theory, he should return to Manchester United. But the player's agent Edgardo Lasalvia said a few days ago: "Whether he returns to Manchester in the middle of the year will depend on the performance he shows. If Ten Hag continues, it's going to be difficult. Ten Hag hasn't used him, valued him, or treated him like a professional."
