It is very common for great stars to leave a legacy that is remembered for decades. Fans do not easily forget the players who made them happy and for years they keep reminiscing about their goals, assists, dribbles and titles. That's why whenever a young player with a similar style of play to a star of the past appears, comparisons are inevitable.

Man United want to get rid of this star and his future could be in Barcelona
For example, Lionel Messi was once considered the 'new Maradona'. And now every young left-footed forward who dribbles past opposing defenders with ease, especially if he is Argentine, is dubbed by some as the 'new Messi'. And the same goes for other stars like Andres Iniesta: he is still playing despite being 39 years old, but a young player seems destined to follow in his footsteps.
He is Arthur Vermeeren, an 18-year-old Belgian midfielder who has attracted the attention of the world's top clubs for his excellent performances with Royal Antwerp. He made his debut there in 2022 and quickly became a key part of the team, winning the Belgian Cup, Pro League and Belgian Super Cup titles. He also faced Barcelona in the Champions League group stage this season and even scored one of the goals in the 3-2 victory in December.
This Thursday Vermeeren landed in Spain to agree his signing with Atlético Madrid. According to Marca newspaper, there is already a deal in place between Los Colchoneros and Royal Antwerp, and all that remains is for the player to negotiate the final details with his new club and undergo routine medical tests. Reports indicate that the Spanish side will pay almost $30 million for him.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti's big concern is Bellingham for this reason
Mark Van Bommel, former Barcelona player and current Royal Antwerp manager, spoke about Vermeeren this week and said: "Arthur is a top player, we will be able to see him in a few years. He will be worth much more when he has played several games for Atletico Madrid. Whichever club he chooses, his choice will be the best. It was a pleasure to work with such a natural talent".
