During the last few seasons Real Madrid have been a reliable team. They have obtained good results in most of the tournaments they competed in, they have shown convincing performances and many of the squad's players have become stars admired by fans all over the world. In fact, this season they managed to qualify for the round of 16 of the Champions League by winning all their matches in Group C, while at the same time leading the La Liga standings along with Girona.

One of the secrets of their success is the great work of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian coach returned to the club in 2021 after several years and quickly gave the team his style. That allowed them to win the 2021/22 Champions League title and reach the semifinals the following season. And now they are one of the favorites to compete for the title again.

However, in Spain many were worried about the near future, as Ancelotti's contract was due to expire on June 30, 2024 and he had received an offer from the Brazil national team to coach at the Copa America and the 2026 World Cup. There he was to coach stars such as Neymar Junior, Richarlison, Casemiro, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior.

After some months in which newspapers, TV shows and social media were flooded with rumors and speculations about this issue, finally Real Madrid announced this Friday the renewal of Carlo Ancelotti's contract for two more seasons. This means that he will remain the team's manager until at least June 30, 2026.

The rest will have to wait

No doubt Real Madrid fans will be very happy with this news. But the Brazilians now have a problem: they must find a new coach, and fast, because in just six months they will face the Copa America 2024. At the same time, managers who had been mentioned as possible replacements for Ancelotti at Real Madrid, such as Xabi Alonso, will have to wait a few more years.
