The club was even planning to accept an offer of nearly $90 million this summer for Raphinha, but the Brazilian revealed that the harsh comments almost made him quit football. Raphinha said, "I had recently thought about quitting everything [football] because of personal and professional issues. I thought about giving up, leaving the sport, because I didn't want to go through mental problems or difficulties and hear insults by the media or fans."

Raphinha mentioned that his baby son is his motivation to continue pushing through the difficult moments and criticism he received during this past season. The Brazilian said, "But now, I have a greater force, which is my son. Imagining that one day, my son can see me as an inspiration in football, not being the best in the world, but as a reference, that's worth a lot."

The message from the club is: "We know him very well, we know that he has a very strong character and is hot-blooded." Sport reports that Raphinha has told Barcelona that he does not want to leave the club, and Deco has no intention of forcing him out.

Raphinha will play in Copa America
