Many football fans want to get close to two of the greatest football players of all time. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been approached by many fans on the pitch due to their status in world football and being one fo the greatest footballers to ever play the game. Messi in the United States has seen lots of fans approach him during the MLS season and also when he plays with Argentina. In the EUROS, Ronaldo has seen lots of fans trying to get close to him, but the situation has become a concern to the Portuguese Football Federation. In the match between Portugal and Turkiye, Ronaldo was approached by many fans from the stands, and the Portuguese striker was annoyed at the security for not being able to control the pitch invasions. UEFA is making sure to add more security to ensure that no more fans invade the pitch to get close to Ronaldo in the next EUROS match that involves Portugal. This will also be taken into action for the rest of the EURO matches being played in Germany.

In Portugal's previous match against Georgia in the last match of the group stage, a fan dove from the stands to get close to Ronaldo, but instead, the fan hurt himself and fell onto some stairs that led to the locker room. A steward got in the way at the perfect time to prevent an accident on Ronaldo.

UEFA released a statement about security and stated that any fans who invade the pitch will be punished. It read, "Any invasion of the field constitutes a violation of the rules of the stadium and will result in his expulsion from the stadium, from of all the matches of the tournament and that a formal criminal complaint for raid is present.

Porutgal's next match in the EUROS

Portugal will be playing against Slovenia in the Round of 16 on Monday, July 1st. The match will be played at the Frankfurt Arena, a stadium Portugal has yet to play in the EUROS so far. If Portugal defeats Slovenia, Portugal could play either Belgium or France in the quarterfinals.
