Lionel Messi had a 2023 with big changes. He moved with his family from Paris to Miami last summer, after expiring his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and agreeing to join Inter Miami. This was the start of a completely new experience for Leo, as he not only left Europe for the first time in his career, but also arrived in a new country, with a different language and culture.

However, he seems to have adapted quickly. The Herons have many South American players, including Argentines Franco Negri, Nicolas Stefanelli, Facundo Farias, Tomas Aviles and coach Gerardo Martino. In addition, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Leo's friends and former teammates at Barcelona, also joined in. All this helped him to feel comfortable in his new club and to be able to stand out on the field.

The chiefs' plan is that in 2024 things will be even better, as boss Martino will have the opportunity to assemble the squad according to his wishes and will have plenty of time to work before the start of the season. The return to training will be on January 9 in Miami. A few weeks later they will begin a tour of friendly matches that will start in El Salvador, continue in Asia and end in Miami, just a few days before the start of Major League Soccer.

In the meantime, the players are enjoying their vacation. Lionel Messi is in his hometown of Rosario with his family and friends. He celebrated New Year's Eve at his mansion in the gated community 'Kentucky' and this Sunday he shared a picture on his official Instagram account. There he can be seen wearing a pink t-shirt (coincidentally the colors of Inter Miami) with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and his sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.

What did he say?

In the post on Instagram, which has more than 7 million likes, Lionel Messi wrote a short message: "Happy 2024 !!!". And his wife Antonela left a comment: "My whole life". The Argentine player will be able to enjoy one more week in his hometown, before returning to Miami to start the preseason with The Herons.
