Inter Miami began preseason work last week under the orders of boss Gerardo Martino and his assistants. The first days of training are key for the players to get in top physical shape and be ready to face a season that will be very demanding, considering the large number of matches they will play during 2024 in Major League Soccer, CONCACAF Champions League and Leagues Cup.

At the same time, the club's chiefs are working to bring in players to help raise the level of the team. In addition to the four youngsters who were selected in the SuperDraft (Yannick Bright, Pep Casas, Leo Afonso and Ryan Carmichael), the Herons have two new faces for now: German midfielder Julian Gressel and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. But for the manager that is not enough, as he wants at least one more defender and one more midfielder.
Coming to the end of the second week of training, Inter Miami will have their first game of the year this Friday. They will fly to El Salvador to face the local team at the Cuscatlan Stadium, in a match that will be unforgettable for the fans, as they will have the opportunity to see Lionel Messi and the other stars of the team.
David Beckham's side released the list of players called up by Martino for this match: goalkeepers CJ Dos Santos and Cole Jensen; defenders Jordi Alba, Noah Allen, Tomás Avilés, Sergii Kryvtsov, Christopher McVey, Ryan Sailor and DeAndre Yedlin; midfielders Sergio Busquets, Benjamin Cremaschi, Gregore, Julian Gressel, David Ruiz and Lawson Sunderland; and forwards Robert Taylor, Facundo Farías, Leonardo Campana, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.

Before facing Inter Miami, the coach of the National Team of El Salvador, David Dóniga, gave a press conference and talked about what it means for them to play against Lionel Messi. He already has experience, having coached Spanish teams that faced Barcelona when Leo was there, such as Malaga and Deportivo La Coruña. "The times we have faced each other in other teams, it is complicated to stop an unrepeatable player. The collective work has to enhance the way we defend," he explained.
