This week Kylian Mbappé made headlines around the world for his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain once the current season ends. While it was a possibility that had been rumored for some time, many in France were hopeful that he would change his mind and activate the automatic extension clause of his contract until 2025 or accept the offer to renew for four more years.

Coach Luis Enrique left Mbappé out of the PSG squad and this was his explanation
But none of that happened. According to reports, 'Kiki' met with club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi and told him of his decision to leave as a free agent on July 1. Now the speculation is related to his future club: some Premier League clubs are interested in him, such as Arsenal and Liverpool, but Real Madrid are apparently the favorites to sign him.
However, fans of other teams still do not give up hope of seeing the French striker in the jerseys of their own clubs. That's what happened in Barcelona. In a video of the Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones, president Joan Laporta is seen signing autographs and taking pictures with a group of fans of the Catalan side, when one of them made an unexpected request.
"Laporta, Laporta, sign Mbappé. Sign Mbappé," he said. This caused the club president to laugh, who, as he continued to greet the rest of the people there, raised his head, looked at the man who had shouted at him and surprised everyone by replying, "You don't know anything". While the words may be considered aggressive, his tone of voice and gesture of amusement made it clear that it was just a joke.

Why Modric's departure could be key to Mbappé's arrival at Real Madrid?
Barcelona must certainly be keen to sign Kylian Mbappé. He would be a spectacular reinforcement for the attack and could form a fearsome duo with Robert Lewandowski. But it is impossible for them to do so right now. The serious financial problems that the Catalan side have been facing for years have not only prevented them from signing stars like Mbappé, but have also forced them to let top players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez go. So, despite the fans' desire, they will have to be satisfied with the current squad and temper expectations.
