He followed Cristiano to Saudi Arabia.

During 2023 the Pro League became one of the most attractive tournaments in the world. Multi-million dollar salary offers allowed clubs to sign many top players who were shining in Europe and that made the league much more competitive. Cristiano Ronaldo led the way, when he left Manchester United to join Al-Nassr for more than $200 million.

Last summer many other stars made the same decision. Karim Benzema, Fabinho and N'Golo Kanté went to Al-Ittihad; Neymar Junior, Kalidou Koulibaly, Bono, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Al-Hilal; Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino did the same at Al-Ahli; and Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte joined CR7 at Al-Nassr.

Another of those who chose the Pro League was Jordan Henderson. The midfielder was one of Liverpool's star players, but could not turn down the more than $45 million per year offered to him by Al-Ettifaq. However, things there did not turn out as he had hoped. Steven Gerrard's team have not been able to compete with the strongest teams in the tournament and that is why they are in 8th place in the standings, almost 30 points off the top.

His disappointment with the level of the Pro League and the cultural differences between Saudi Arabia and England have led Henderson to consider an early exit from Al-Ettifaq. With this scenario, some clubs interested in signing him are Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich. However, negotiations will not be easy, as the Saudi club have no intention of letting him go right now and, even if they agreed to negotiate, they will try to recoup the investment they made for him just six months ago.

In addition to Jordan Henderson, other stars are considering leaving Saudi Arabia earlier than planned. Roberto Firmino and Karim Benzema are among them, and Chelsea are rumored to be interested in bringing them in to replace the injured Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, who has been called up by the Senegal national team for the Africa Cup of Nations.
