The last few weeks have not been good for Barcelona. The coach and players had already received harsh criticism last year for the disappointing performances they showed in several important games, but that got worse in 2024. In the Spanish Super Cup final they suffered a heavy blow against Real Madrid and in the Copa del Rey, although they advanced to the quarterfinals, they had to work harder than expected to beat lower division teams like Barbastro and Unionistas de Salamanca.

Boss Xavi Hernandez's absurd excuse for Barcelona's failures this season
And in La Liga they are not doing much better. Defeats against Real Madrid and Girona, the leaders in the standings, have left them in a very difficult situation: they have 41 points and are 8 points off the top, a distance that could be greater depending on the result of Real Madrid vs Almeria this Sunday. For this reason, Los Blaugranas can't let any more opportunities pass them by.
But now they will have a very difficult match at the Benito Villamarin Stadium. There they will face Real Betis, a team with good players who are competing to reach the qualification zone for international tournaments and who have quality players like Isco Alarcon, the former Real Madrid star.
Considering this, Xavi Hernandez does not want his team to relax and therefore included in the starting lineup his best players: Iñaki Peña; Jules Koundé, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Alex Balde; Frenkie De Jong, Ilkay Gundogan, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres. In addition, the substitutes will be Diego Kochen, Ander Astralaga, Hector Fort, Sergi Roberto, Fermin Lopez, Oriol Romeu, Joao Felix, Marc Guiu and Vitor Roque.

Vinicius wanted to humiliate a rival player and things turned out badly for him
With 31 points, Real Betis are just one behind Valencia, who are currently qualifying for the Conference League 2024/25. That's why it will be key for them to get a win this Sunday against Barcelona. Coach Manuel Pellegrini chose this XI: Rui Silva; Hector Bellerin, German Pezzella, Sokratis, Abner Vinicius; Johnny, Isco, Marc Roca; Luiz Henrique, Willian Jose, Assane Diao.
