Vinicius Junior was the big star of the night. He scored the opener after 3 minutes, taking advantage of a mistake by Jules Koundé and dribbling past goalkeeper Iñaki Peña. Moments later, he did it again, now thanks to an assist from Rodrygo Goes. Los Blaugranas had some hope thanks to Robert Lewandowski's goal after 33 minutes, but again the Brazilian winger netted before the break, this time with a penalty after a foul by Ronald Araujo.

In the second half things did not change. Real Madrid controlled the ball and created many chances to score, until finally Rodrygo Goes netted the fourth goal. And everything got worse for Barcelona a few minutes later, when Ronald Araujo was sent off by the referee Juan Martínez Munuera.

After the final whistle Carlo Ancelotti's team celebrated their first title in the 2023/24 season. But they hope it will not be the last, as they are still competing in other tournaments: in La Liga they are one point behind Girona, although they have a game in hand; in the Copa del Rey they will face Atlético Madrid next Thursday for the round of 16 and in the Champions League they are also in that phase, where they will play against RB Leipzig.

Barcelona are in trouble

For Los Blaugranas, Sunday's defeat in the Super Cup against Real Madrid is a hard blow. They had already received criticism from the press and fans for their disappointing performances in recent weeks, but now things will be even worse. Moreover, in La Liga they are far behind the leaders. That is why they will need to go far in the Copa del Rey and Champions League for this season not to be considered a failure.
