Lautaro Martinez struggled because of a crazy reason no one understood.

Messi and the rest of the team are aiming to win the 2024 Copa America. The Inter Miami star is still helping the team, but an unfortunate injury has kept him out for the match against Peru and could potentially keep him out for the match in the quarterfinal. During the absence of Messi in the match against Peru, the player who stepped up for Argentina was Lautaro Martinez. He scored a brace in the match against Peru in the last match of the Copa America. Martinez revealed that he struggled in the past few years with Argentina because of a shocking detail. Martinez said, "In the World Cup, there were moments of a lot of suffering. I wanted to undergo surgery, I couldn't bear the pain any longer. But today I am enjoying it. I worked hard to arrive in good shape for this Copa America and to get my revenge for the World Cup."
Lautaro Martinez scored four goals in the Copa America so far in three matches played. Martinez scored from the bench in the first match against Canada in a 2-0 win. The Inter Milan striker scored the winner in the 1-0 win against Chile at the MetLife Stadium.
Martinez scored two goals in the second half against Peru, which sealed Argentina's victory. Argentina won all three of their games on the group stage and is in pole position to be the favorites to lift the trophy on July 14th. Martinez earned the start against Peru and now is likely to start with Messi in the quarterfinals.

Lautarto Martinez played 44 matches for Inter Milan across all competitions. He scored 27 goals and provided seven assists with Inter Milan this past season. He won the Serie A with them and the Italian Super Cup, which earned him a call-up to the national team for Copa America.
