Every football fan knows that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have a huge rivalry, and the players from each team would rarely join them. The players understand the rivalry between the two clubs, but a former teammate of Lionel Messi was not afraid to admit that he was waiting for the call from Real Madrid to join Los Blancos instead of going to FC Barcelona. That player is Arturo Vidal, who played for FC Barcelona from 2018 to 2020. The Chilean midfielder was close to joining Real Madrid, but he revealed that the club opted to bring in Casemiro instead of him. Vidal said, "Joining Real Madrid? For the president (Florentino Pérez), who needed to say yes, but he didn't say. I think the time I was close was before Casemiro arrived from the loan from Porto. I should have gone, but they brought him back... The one who goes to Madrid, comes out a champion (laughs), wins everything." Some suggest that he would've preferred the move to Real Madrid instead of joining FC Barcelona.

Real Madrid fans may feel some type of way that Vidal admitted that a move to Real Madrid is very attractive. His comments on Toni Kroos made him an enemy, as he suggested that the German midfielder had learned from him. Vidal and Kroos played together at Bayer Leverkusen before the German midfielder went to Bayern Munich and the Chilean went to Juventus.

Vidal said, "With Toni (Kroos) we played together at Leverkusen, he learned a lot from me, I kicked him several times (laughs). He spent two years with me, the first year he played very little, but he matured a lot. He came on loan from Bayern and there we kicked him, we explained to him what football was like."

Vidal's harsh words on Vinicius Jr.

Vidal continued to make some statements that could cause controversy as he talked about Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian is one of the favorites to the Ballon d'Or, but in Vidal's opinion, he shouldn't. Vidal said, "Vinicius may be in the top 10, but not for me, he's missing a lot. I like Bellingham, he does them all, he scores goals. I see myself a lot in him. At Real Madrid, he was the best."
