Joshua Kimmich has been talked about in Germany for months. The midfielder is one of Bayern Munich's most important players and has been there for almost a decade, since his debut in the 2015/16 season. Since then he has played 368 games, with 41 goals and 94 assists. He has also been a key player in the 20 titles he has won with the club, including 8 Bundesligas and one Champions League, in 2020.

However, his situation has changed lately. Since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as coach, he no longer has the same prominence as before and on more than one occasion has been relegated from the starting lineup. This sparked rumors about his possible departure from the club last summer, although he finally stayed.
Now that the transfer window is open in Europe's top leagues, again many speculated that perhaps it was time for Kimmich to leave Germany. Barcelona are one of the clubs that have been mentioned as a possible destination for the midfielder, considering that they need a player with those characteristics and that Joshua has stated on several occasions that he admires Xavi Hernandez. Another option is Paris Saint-Germain, although a few days ago owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: "I don't want to talk about a player from another club because I respect Bayern Munich a lot" during an interview with Rothen s'enflamme.
But the player took it upon himself this week to silence those rumors. He gave a press conference in which he was asked about his possible departure from Bayern Munich in January and his answer was definitive: "I only focus on Bayern. For me, this is not an issue at all in the winter. I think at some point the club will approach me and we will discuss it among ourselves and not with you."

Despite what he said at the press conference, Joshua Kimmich's situation could change next summer. At that point he will only have one year left on his contract with the German club and will have to decide whether or not to renew. If not, Bayern Munich will surely try to negotiate his sale to prevent him from leaving as a free agent.
