Toni Kroos has officially retired from football after Germany lost 2-1 against Spain in the quarterfinals of the EUROS. The German legend told the world a couple of months ago that he decided to retire from professional football after the EUROS. In his last professional game, he made FC Barcelona fans angry when he fouled and injured Pedri in the 4th minute of the match. Pedri had to go off the pitch, and now he will miss the preseason with FC Barcelona. Kroos felt bad about injuring Pedri, and in his long message about leaving football, he included an apology for the Spanish midfielder. Kroos wrote, "Forgiveness and get well soon to Pedri! It wasn’t my intention to hurt you. A speedy recovery and all the best. You are a great player.” Barcelona fans appreciated the message, and so did Pedri. Now, the Spanish midfielder wrote a message for Kroos that made Real Madrid fans happy. Pedri wrote, "Thank you Toni Kroos for your message. This is football and these things happen. Your career and your achievements remain forever."

Pedri's EUROS with Spain is over, but he has an injury on his left knee. He may be out for more than a month and will likely miss the preseason with FC Barcelona. Kroos and Pedri have faced each other on some occasions in El Clasico, and despite the big rivalry between the clubs and teams, they managed to show great respect and sportsmanship toward one another.

After the match between Spain and Germany, Kroos was asked if he was able to check on Pedri. Kroos said, "I couldn't." Pedri was one of Spain's most important players, but his substitute, Dani Olmo, was crucial for Spain to beat Germany as he scored the opener and provided the assist for the winner late in extra time.

Dani Olmo wants to win the EUROS for Pedri

Speaking of Dani Olmo, he hopes that he can help Spain win the EUROS, especially for Pedri after the injury he suffered. Olmo said, "Of course, Pedri is a good friend of mine, a good teammate, and a very important player in the group. A situation like this happening in the most important part of our campaign isn't ideal." Spain will play against France in the semifinals of the EUROS on Tuesday.
