For years Real Madrid have made a decision about their transfer policy: they rely on young players who are starting their professional careers at other clubs and pay a lot of money to bring them in. Then, if necessary they wait patiently for them for some time to adapt to the rhythm and demands of the team, and when they are ready they start giving them participation in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

This is the strategy used with several stars of the current squad: Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Brahim Diaz. Last summer, Jude Bellingham joined the list, but with a difference. Despite being very young, the midfielder had already had a lot of involvement with Borussia Dortmund and the English national team, and had even played in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Jude quickly adapted to Los Merengues and in a short time became one of the main stars of the team alongside Vinicius Junior, scoring important goals such as the two that netted against Barcelona in the 'Clasico' at Montjuic. That's why the $110 million that the Spanish side paid for him seemed like a great deal, considering his performances.

Since then things have improved even more and no one doubts anymore that Bellingham is Real Madrid's most important player. That is also seen in his value: according to Transfermarkt, he is the most expensive player in the club's history, at €180 million (about $194 million). In second place is Vinicius Junior, with $161 million, the same amount that Eden Hazard reached in 2019.

What about CR7?

In this ranking Cristiano Ronaldo occupies the fourth place: between 2014 and 2018 he was worth almost $130 million, surpassing current young stars like Rodrygo Goes and Federico Valverde, who exceed $100 million. That most of the players in this ranking are currently at Real Madrid shows that the recruitment policy is working to perfection.
