This week Neymar Junior was again in the news in newspapers, TV shows and social media for reasons that have nothing to do with soccer. This is something usual for him, since in the last year he has barely been able to play a few games because of his physical problems, while he starred in unusual situations such as the scandal of the cruise ship that bore his name and the alleged pregnancy of a Brazilian model who claims that Neymar is the father of her future child.

This time the speculation was about Ney's weight. He suffered a serious injury in October, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus of his right knee during a match between Brazil and Uruguay for the South American qualifiers, and therefore had to undergo surgery. Since then he has not been able to play again, while he is slowly recovering.

After almost four months, this week he landed in Saudi Arabia to continue his recovery process under the supervision of Al-Hilal's medical specialists. The club shared images of the arrival of the player, who was wearing a baggy jacket and a hoodie, and many users on social media speculated about his alleged overweight, implying that with the injury and his penchant for partying, he was neglecting his fitness.

Now the Saudi club shared a new video in which Ney is seen dressed in sportswear and training in a gym alongside a fitness trainer. Although he still has difficulties to move normally as a result of the surgery, his physical condition seems optimal and there are no details to suggest that the speculations about his weight were accurate.

When will he play again?

Estimates from medical specialists at Al-Hilal and the Brazil national team are not optimistic. They believe that Neymar will not be able to play again before the end of the season and, for that reason, the club decided to remove him from the list of players registered in the Pro League to include Renan Lodi in his place. In addition, it seems unlikely that he will be able to participate in the Copa America with Brazil, which will be played between June and July in the United States.
