Luis Enrique is a Barcelona legend. He played 333 games there between 1996 and 2004 and scored 115 goals. He also won 7 titles, including two leagues. And then he returned as coach in 2014 to recover the team, which after the departure of Pep Guardiola had not been able to find its best level. With that team, which featured Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, he amazed fans around the world and won the 2015 Champions League.
He then continued his career with the Spanish national team and this summer arrived at Paris Saint-Germain with the difficult mission of achieving what none of his predecessors could: winning the Champions League. To do so, the coach knows that he needs to build a reliable team with top-level players, which is why he asked Nasser Al-Khelaifi for several signings.
According to Sport newspaper, Luis Enrique targeted two Barcelona players: Pedri and Ousmane Dembélé. The Spanish midfielder is one of the big stars of Los Blaugranas and despite being very young he earned a place in Xavi's starting lineup. Despite PSG's interest, his transfer is almost impossible, as he has a $1 billion exit clause.
The French winger, on the other hand, has a much lower value: $50 million until July 31. After that, the amount will double. In Paris they see him as an ideal alternative to replace Kylian Mbappé, but the player has already stated that he has no desire to leave Barcelona and is unlikely to change his mind.
It is not the first time that Barcelona and PSG have crossed paths this summer. Both clubs were mentioned as possible destinations for other stars in this transfer window. Joao Felix expressed his desire to play for the Spanish side, while PSG considered him as a possible replacement for Mbappé. And Bernardo Silva was wanted by both, although everything seems to indicate that he will remain at Manchester City.
