FC Barcelona is about to make the signing of Ilkay Gündogan official, according to various media outlets. However, a social media post in Spanish by Manchester City has raised doubts about his move to Spain.
The English club shared a photo of the German midfielder wearing the team's new kit with the message "What a shirt!" highlighting the club badge. This has sparked speculation about whether it is a message about the player's continuity or simply a mistake by those managing the account.
Shortly after the post went viral, City deleted the tweet, as Gündogan is believed to have everything agreed with Barcelona for the upcoming season. However, due to the post going viral, within minutes everyone had already seen the photo.
There are rumors that the German footballer has asked the club to bid farewell to the Manchester City fans before his transfer to Barcelona is made official. The contract would be for three seasons, with a salary of 10 million EUR per year.
Currently, Gündogan is in Spain enjoying his vacation with his family and some former teammates, such as Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Aké. It's only a matter of time before Barcelona officially announces his signing and leaves the controversy behind.
